Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer led the inauguration and turnover of the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) dormitory and classroom building at the OISCA Bago Training Center in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, Thursday, December 17.

The activity started with the blessing of the building and ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a short program where the symbolic key was turned over by the provincial officials to the training center’s directors, Shigemi Watanabe and Thelma Watanabe, a Capitol press release said.

The building is expected to house Negrense farmers who will undergo silk production training, that aims to give them more livelihood opportunities in the country and abroad.

It will also house Negrense students who will undergo Japanese culture and language training, particularly the provincial government scholars.

Lacson said that he hopes OISCA will continue its commitment to help many Negrenses through their in-house trainings.

Ferrer said that the project is also made possible because of the teamwork and partnership of the top provincial officials.

Thelma Watanabe said the building is a worthwhile project, which is a result of the strong partnership between the provincial government, OISCA and the community whose common goal is to uplift the quality of life of the people.

Lacson and Ferrer also led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a two-storey building at La Carlota City College Main Campus in La Carlota City, Thursday.

They were joined by Fourth District Board Member Jose Benito Alonso, La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon, LCCC President Dr. Luciano Magallanes, and Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa.

It is a P40 million structure funded by the province, and is expected to the completed by next year.

Magallanes said they are thankful to the provincial government for helping them realize another school structure that will contribute a lot in delivering quality education to more students.*
