An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) died while her mother was injured after they were stabbed by her live-in partner in Hacienda Paz, Brgy. Canlandog, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Ma. Adeline Dela Cruz, 32, died after she was stabbed by her live-in partner identified by the police as Gerald Peñafiel, 39.
Police investigation revealed that on Tuesday the live-in partners had a quarrel that continued until the next day.
The suspect then stabbed the victim several times using a screw driver prompting her mother to try to stop him but she was also stabbed on her right leg, the police said.
Both victims were brought to a hospital but the OFW died from multiple stab wounds.
The suspect who hid in a sugarcane field with the weapon he used to kill his live-in partner was arrested Wednesday afternoon, the police said.*
