‘Odette’ destroyed, damaged houses in Negros Occidental 243,809, dead now 42

The death toll from Typhoon “Odette” in Negros Occidental hit 42 on Thursday, December 23, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

The number of houses destroyed and damaged by the typhoon also rose to 243,809 provincewide.

There were 54,919 houses destroyed and 188,890 damaged, he said.

Among the dead in Sipalay City were 17, Kabankalan City – 11, Moises Padilla -3, Candoni and Ilog – 2 each, and Manapla, San Carlos City, Bago City, Binalbagan, Cauayan, Isabela and La Carlota City – 1 each.

Of the 104 residents injured during the typhoon, Sipalay City had 73, Valladolid -10, Bago City and La Castellana – 4 each, Candoni -6, La Castellana – 4, La Carlota City and Moises Padilla -2 each, and EB Magalona, Ilog San Carlos City -1 each.

Still missing are 6 residents of Sipalay City, 3 in Kabankalan City and 1 in Candoni.*
