The Office of the Building Official (OBO) has issued a notice of violation to the contractor of the new government center of Silay City in Negros Occidental, City Building Official Elmer Kent Torres, confirmed on Monday, Oct. 21.
The Silay OBO building inspector served the notice of violation to Silver Dragon Construction, the contractor of the new government center on Friday for beginning construction work without a building permit, Torres said.
They have given the contractor three days to submit documents such as the building plans, which include estimates and building specifications, and building permit forms signed by engineers that are notarized, he said.
If they fail to comply by Wednesday a final notice will be issued and appropriate fines will be imposed, Torres said.
If there is still a failure, it will be referred to the City Legal Office for appropriate action, he said, pointing out that government projects are not exempt from availing of building permits.
Torres said Silver Dragon received their notice that was served but it was not signed by the recipient.
Construction on the new government center began in August this year.
Silay Mayor Joedith Gallego said on Monday morning that he was not aware that the OBO had issued a notice of violation.
Gallego said he would look into the matter.*
