NPC offers ‘Mass of Hope and Healing’

The Negros Press Club will offer a “Mass of Hope and Healing” at the Our Lady of Candles Parish in Bacolod City, 11 a.m. Monday, September 20, its president Yves Montecillo said.

The Holy Mass will be held in memory of four Negrense media practitioners who passed away last week, he said.

They are radio anchorman Rushmore Ubas, teacher and sportswriter Jerome Galunan, TV and radio broadcaster Franklin Villanueva, and radio correspondent Maui “Mawie” de los Santos.

Delos Santos passed away on September 12, Ubas and Galunan on September 15, and Villanueva on September 16.

The “Mass of Hope and Healing” will be streamed via Facebook Live on the club’s official page Negros Press Club-NPC.

Montecillo appealed for solidarity and prayers from members of the press as the local media community faces tough times amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also reminded fellow media practitioners to strictly comply with minimum health standards to curb the transmission of the virus.

“If given the opportunity, get vaccinated as well to have more protection against COVID-19,” he added.

As part of its COVID-19 response, the NPC, through the assistance of its benefactors, provides financial and food aid to affected members and their families, distributes essential items to partner-public schools, and sets up pantries for identified communities.*
