
The induction ceremony of the newly elected officers of the Negros Press Club will be held at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 7.
This year’s officers are Aquilino “Boy” Ciocon Jr. (RPN-DYKB) – president, Rey Siason (RPN-DYKB) – vice president, Adrian Nemes III (Sunstar Bacolod) – secretary, Henry Henceboy Cestina (DYRL-Radyo Pilipino) treasurer, and Elsie Jolingan (RPN-DYKB/ NDB) – auditor.
Members of the Board of Directors are Jonathan “Jun” Gaton (Pasiplat Broadcasting), Bryan Morden (Aksyon Radyo Bacolod), Luisito “Chito” Berjit Jr., (Alethia Netcast Bacolod), Emmanuel F. Canto (Ultra Media PH) and Yves Montecillo (RMN DYHB) Ex-Officio.
The induction theme is “NPC at 86: Excellent Media Leadership Amidst the Trying Times”.
Ciocon, in a press release, said the theme reflects the fourth estate’s commitment “in delivering public service through vital information despite the difficulties that we facing during this time of the pandemic.”
Keynote speaker will be Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corp. consultant Dan Atayde, while expected to give their messages are Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Rep. Marilou Arroyo (Neg. Occ., 5th District), Silay Mayor Mark Golez, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia who is a past president of the club and other guests.
Ciocon said this year’s induction is memorable because this will be the first time that the members of the fourth estate will gather after two years of the pandemic.
He assured that minimum health protocols will be observed.
NPC is considered the oldest press club in the country and currently has more than 200 active media practitioners as members.*
