NPA members surrender, 2 pregnant women rescued

Four members of the New People’s Army, including two pregnant women, surrendered to the military in Siaton and Sta. Catalina towns, Negros Oriental, on Sunday and Monday, Dec. 17 and 18.

The combined elements of the 11th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, 705th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7, and Siaton Police Station launched the rescue operation of the two pregnant women at the boundary of the two towns on Monday, Dec. 18.

Those who surrendered were alias “Sarah”, a member of the NPA Squad 3 and Taxation Team, and alias “Aubre”, Educational and Finance Staff, and Assistant Political Officer, all from the Southeast Front of Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (dismantled).

Sarah and Aubre are five and nine months pregnant, respectively, and were rescued in Sitio Katubahan in Brgy. Tayak, Siaton.

Before the operation, two CPP-NPA members voluntarily surrendered to the Community Support Program (CSP) Team of the unit in Brgy. Milagrosa, Sta Catalina, Dec. 17.

They were identified as alias Ka Delfin, a member of Squad 3 of Samahan ng Yunit Pampropaganda, and Ka Bombo, a Political Guide of Squad 2 of the dismantled Southeast Front.

Ka Delfin turned in an M-16 rifle with two magazines, 30 rounds Ctg 5.56mm ball, one rifle grenade and a bandolier, while Ka Bombo surrendered his .38 caliber revolver with five live ammunition, the Army reported.*
