NPA guerrilla front claims killing laborer in Toboso

The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command of the New People’s Army Northern Negros Guerrilla Front claimed responsibility for killing a 30-year-old laborer in Brgy. San Isidro, Toboso, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday night, January 7.

Police identified the victim as Reamil Ramos, also known as “Maggie”, a resident of Brgy. San Isidro.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim was inside his house when about seven unidentified men, reportedly wearing bonnets, arrived and forcibly took him about 20 meters away from the residence.

Authorities said the suspects shot the victim multiple times before fleeing toward the mountainous area of Brgy. Bandila.

NPA claimed Ramos was actively participating in the operations of the 79th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

The group also said the killing was intended as a warning to individuals working with government forces.

The victim was rushed to Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City but was declared dead by the attending physician.*
