The Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC) of the New People’s Army (NPA) has claimed responsibility for the killing of a 59-year-old barangay watchman or tanod in Sitio Libas, Barangay Imelda, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on July 16.
In a statement released on Monday, July 21, the LPC-NPA alleged that Jeremias Bianggos was executed by their unit for his supposed involvement in incestuous rape and for acting as an intelligence asset of the military.
Police records showed that Bianggos was gunned down inside his residence by unidentified assailants.
The rebel group accused Bianggos of providing information to government troops about the movement and activities of their guerilla front in the area.
The NPA said the killing was part of what it described as the implementation of “revolutionary justice” to protect the community.
Authorities have not issued a statement on the allegations of the rebel group.*
