
The New People’s Army (NPA) through its Romeo Nanta Command has claimed responsibility for the killing of a 40-year-old man in Sitio Mabigo, Brgy. Lag-it, Tayasan, Negros Oriental, on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
The NPA, in a press statement, alleged that Tata Balasabas, 40, was a military informant and accused him of spying on the movement of their members.
They also linked him to the military operation where former NPA members Jolina “Ka Chloe” Martinez and Marjon “Ka Mark” Encancion were killed in Sitio Pisok, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on Aug. 22, 2024,
Meanwhile, the Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Magbubukid–Northern Negros (PKM) issued a separate statement praising the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command of the NPA for its offensive against the Charlie Platoon of the 79th Infantry Battalion in Purok Singko, Brgy. Gawahon, Victorias City, Neg. Occ., on Sept. 14.
PKM said the encounter boosted the morale of farmers and their determination to continue reforms through the revolutionary movement.
The group also called on farmers and the public to support the cause of the NPA.
Authorities have yet to issue a statement on the NPA’s claims.*
