NOrPPO, Canlaon LGU strengthen post-typhoon response efforts

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) and the Canlaon City government  have intensified their coordination and disaster response operations following the devastation caused by Typhoon “Tino.”

NOrPPO Acting Director Col. Criscente C. Tiguelo, along with Canlaon City Police Chief LtCol. Marlon Mallorca and other key personnel on Thursday, Nov. 6, led a series of briefings and dialogs  to ensure the continuity and efficiency of ongoing search, rescue, and retrieval (SRR) operations in the city.

At the Incident Command Post in Brgy. Panubigan, police officials conducted a turnover briefing between incoming and outgoing SRR teams to maintain operational readiness and strengthen inter-agency coordination.

Tiguelo and his team met with Canlaon City Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas to assess typhoon damages, discuss the condition of affected residents, and review ongoing SRR operations jointly undertaken by NOrPPO and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Cardenas thanked the Philippine National Police for its swift response and continued assistance to the people of Canlaon, commending the dedication of police personnel deployed in affected communities.

To improve disaster communication, NOrPPO also installed a UHF Hytera back-to-back repeater at Canlaon City Hall under the supervision.

The repeater, powered by a generator, ensures stable and reliable communication for ongoing and future disaster operations in the city.*
