NONECO signs 30-MW power supply deal with AboitizPower

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. signed a 30-megawatt power supply agreement with Aboitiz Power Corporation, which aims to secure stable and cost-competitive electricity supply for its member-consumer-owners, on Friday, Feb. 13.

The agreement was signed in Talisay City through Aboitiz Solar Power Inc. and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center following a competitive selection process.

Under the 10-year contract, NONECO will source 20 megawatts of baseload power from GNPower Mariveles Energy Center and 10 megawatts of mid-merit renewable energy from Aboitiz Solar Power Inc.

NONECO, in a statement, said the diversified energy mix is expected to help stabilize power rates, improve energy security, and support the increasing demand across its franchise area.

Board President Nicolas Camara said the agreement as a milestone that is expected to contribute to local economic growth and improved quality of life for communities.

General Manager Engr. Wilbe B. Bilbao said the partnership reflects the cooperative’s commitment to reliable and continuous service while upholding transparency and accountability.

AboitizPower Wholesale Vice President for Commercial Planning and Portfolio Management Gerard Roxas said the company remains committed to providing dependable baseload and renewable energy solutions.

Project Supervisor Rossan SJ Rosero-Lee said the agreement strengthens energy security, protects consumers from market price volatility, and supports the transition to cleaner power sources.*
