The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative announced a P1.9939 per kilowatt hour decrease in its electricity rates for August.
Its rate for August is P13.7988 per kWh from P15.7972/kWh in July, a NONECO press release said.
NONECO attributed the decrease to the lower Wholesale Electric Spot Market (WESM) price from P9.2569 to P9.0412/kWh.
There was also a decrease in the systems loss charge by P0.1981/kWh and universal charges – missionary charge by P0.0433/kWh.
NONECO said with the current rates, a consumer can save up to P193 per 100 kilowatts, equivalent to roughly three kilos of rice worth P55 to P60/kilo.
