NOCPPO awards 25 police officers, stations

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office awarded 25 police officers and stations in the province for outstanding work during the celebration of the 122nd Police Service Anniversary at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City on Friday, August 11.

The three best unit awards went to the Silay City Component Police Station as Best CCPS, E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station as Best MPS, and 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company as Best PMFC.

Sixteen police officers were also given special awards.

The awardees are Silay police chief Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca , E.B. Magalona police chief Maj. Kenneth Jay Gratones, and Hinigaran police chief Maj. Clifford Batadhay for Most Number of Planned Operations on Illegal Drugs;

Bago police chief Lt. Col. Jay Malong and Pulupandan chief Cpt. Emman Anacleto also received awards for Most Number of Operations on Wanted Persons, La Carlota police chief Lt. Col. Lowell Garinganao and La Castellana police chief Maj. Nelson Amsiwen Jr. for Most Number of Applied Search Warrants on Loose Firearms;

Bago police chief Lt. Col. Jay Malong and Hinigaran police chief Maj. Clifford Batadhay for Most Number of Deposited Loose Firearms; Victorias City police chief Lt. Col. Roy Rodrigo Gutierrez and E.B. Magalona police chief Maj. Kenneth Jay Gratones for Most Number of Operations on Anti-Illegal Gambling;

Lt. Col. Edison Garcia of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company for Most Sustainable Best Practice through its “Armas Baylo Bugas”, La Carlota police chief Lt. Col. Lowell Garinganao as Best Investigation (Police Commissioned Officer), Cpl. Rigel Sumbilla of the Sagay City Police Station as Best Investigation (Police Non-Commissioned Officer), and MSgt. Ma. Sheila Inot of the Silay City Police Station and SSgt. Daisy May Fernando of the Murcia Police Station as Best Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) Investigators for city and municipal categories, respectively.

Individual awards were also given to Darroca as the Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations, SMSgt. Christopher Panes of Silay and SSgt. Dlore Raymund Paguntalan of Victorias as Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Operations;

Maj. Rhea Sarah Villanueva of the Silay police station as Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration while EMs. Eric Entero and Ssg. Danila Villaflorida, also from Silay were awarded as Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration.

The NOCPPO also gave special recognitions to local chief executives and stakeholders.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who was the guest of honor, urged the police officers to be not just legal troops but moral troops as well.

“It is undeniable though, that this power, while necessary and required, sometimes meets resistance from those subject to it”, the governor said, adding “Police work requires a great balancing act between law enforcement and preservation of liberty”.

Lacson also congratulated NOCPPO for being the best police provincial office in the country at the 122nd Police Service Anniversary Celebration at Camp Crame in Tuesday, Aug. 8.

The governor also congratulated the awardees as their “outstanding achievements have contributed significantly to the accomplishment of peace and order in our province”.*
