The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office arrested the most number of suspects in anti-illegal drug operations in Western Visayas in the first half of the year, the Police Regional Office-6 reported.
PRO-6 reported that 1,600 persons were arrested in Western Visayas from January to June, and seized were P233 million worth of suspected shabu and P2.4 million in marijuana.
Of the 1,600 arrests, NOCPPO recorded the highest with 593, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with 300, Iloilo PPO with 270, and Bacolod CPO with 205.
Aklan PPO had 39 arrests, Antique – 27, Capiz – 67, Guimaras – 27, and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-6 with 72.
RPDEU6 confiscated the highest volume of illegal drugs at P71 million followed by the Iloilo CPO and the Iloilo PPO with estimated street drug prices of around P68 million and P53 million, respectively.
PRO-6 Director, BGen. Jack Wanky said that the police reached this far because of the support of the local government units, the community as source of information, and other stakeholders.
“May these number of arrests serve a stern warning to those who still engage in the illegal drugs trade to stop and surrender to authorities. If you opt to continue in your illegal activity, surely you will end up in jail,” Wanky added.*
