NOCECO electricity rate up by P1 in January

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) announced on Thursday, Jan. 15, a rate increase of ₱1.0938 per kWh for the January 2026 billing cycle of its residential consumers .

NOCECO’s rate for January is P12.8688 per kWh compared to P11.7750 in December.

The adjustment is primarily driven by a ₱1.1140 per kWh rise in the generation charge, it said.

This spike was caused by higher Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) prices resulting from a low power supply margin in December, alongside higher costs from FDC, NOCECO said.

Palm Concepcion Power Corp (PCPC) is now back online following the completion of its preventive maintenance, it also said.

While these costs were partially offset by a ₱0.2979 per kWh reduction in transmission charges, the overall bill now reflects the new, ERC-approved Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) of ₱0.0371 per kWh, NOCECO said.

The GEA-All is a government-mandated universal charge implemented by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) under Resolution No. 6, Series of 2025, to support the development of renewable energy plants, it said.

As a collection agent, NOCECO is required to reflect this as a separate line item and remit all proceeds to the National Transmission Corp. (TransCo).

Consumers are encouraged to review the breakdown of these pass-through charges and continue practicing energy conservation measures to effectively manage their monthly consumption and lower their bills, NOCECO said.*
