There will be no filing of Certificates of Candidacy for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this October as originally scheduled.
The Supreme Court has not issued a temporary restraining order against Republic Act No. 12232, which postpones the December 2025 BSKE to the first Monday of November 2026, Commission on Elections Negros Island Region Director Lionel Marco Castillano said on Monday, Sept. 29.
So the Comelec resolution setting the filing of COCs from Oct. 1 to 7 for the December polls is moot and academic, he said.
Up to now the law postponing the BSKE is valid so it is what the Comelec will implement, unless an order is issued stating otherwise, he said.
They are now just waiting for an order from the Comelec head office on when to resume the registration of BSKE voters, he said.*.
