NIR economic prospects forum Jan. 21 – MBCCI


The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) will host a forum on the economic prospects for the Negros Island Region at Citadines Hotel in Bacolod City on Jan. 21.

The event aims to unlock private investment opportunities in the newly established region, a press release from MBCCI said.

The event themed “Attracting Private Investments for NIR to alleviate the Poverty Problem” is expected to be attended by Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, Neg. Occ. Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, and Neg. Or. Gov. Manuel Sagarbarria.

The forum presents a unique opportunity for business leaders, investors, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions about NIR’s economic future, the press release said.

Among the topics to be discussed are “Prospects of the Philippine Economy and Negros Island Region” by Dr. Bernardo Villegas, Professor Emeritus of the University of Asia and the Pacific; “Developing Bamboo Industry in the Philippines” by David Sands – Rhizome USA founder, and Roberto Castillo of Rhizome Phils.;

“Agribusiness Opportunities in Negros Island” by Dr. Isidro Consunji of the DMCI Holdings Inc.; and “Real Estate Opportunities in Negros Island” by Jose Soberano III, Chairman of the Board of Cebu Landmasters Inc.

A message from NIR law author Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri and responses from representatives of the MBCCI, Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Siquijor Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also highlight the event, the press release said.*
