Almost one hundred farm workers’ dependents and out-of-school youth finished their technical skills training in different Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) accredited courses from the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters’ Sugar Workers Foundation Technical Skills and Livelihood Training Center in Bacolod City Friday, April 11.
Former Bacolod City Councilor Bobby Rojas, son of NFSP President Enrique D. Rojas, welcomed the graduates, their parents and guests.
“Congratulations on your graduation! You are lucky for this opportunity to undergo free skills training. Through this training center which was the brainchild of my father and supported by NFSP officers and members, we have given skills training to thousands of beneficiaries, including Bacolod’s out-of-school youth who were also accommodated at this training center,” Bobby Rojas said.
Ernesto L. Duremdes, Supervising Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist of the TESDA Negros Occidental Provincial Office, was the guest speaker during the graduation rites.
Duremdes said graduates should use, share and improve on the skills they learned from their training. He encouraged them to their skills in finding gainful employment or in setting up a business to help their family, their community and their country.
Established in 2002, the NFSP skills training center is a brainchild of NFSP officers. The training center offers TESDA-registered courses in Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, Computer Systems Servicing NC II and Automotive Servicing NC I.
“For more than twenty years now, the NFSP training center has produced more than 18,000 highly-skilled graduates. Most of our graduates have found gainful employment, and a substantial number of them are working abroad. We are happy and proud that NFSP has contributed to the upliftment of their lives,” said NFSP President Enrique Rojas said.*PR
