A newborn baby boy was found dead beside a pile of trash at 24th Aguinaldo Street, Brgy. 1, Bacolod City, on Friday night, November 14.
Police Station 2 Commander Maj. Eugene Tolentino said a concerned resident reported the discovery after seeing the infant in a dark, vacant area with no lighting and surrounded by garbage.
Responding investigators confirmed that the baby appeared to be a newborn.
Tolentino said the area had no CCTV cameras, making it difficult to determine how the baby was left there or who may be responsible.
The infant’s remains have been brought to a funeral home, and police are coordinating with the barangay council for proper burial arrangements.
Authorities are also working with barangay officials to monitor residents who were recently pregnant as part of their efforts to identify the mother and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.*
