New senior citizen IDs in Bacolod have QR codes

The Bacolod City Department of Social Services Development (DSSD) will gradually replace the old paper identification cards of senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents in the city to address the issues of duplication and fake IDs.

DSSD-Bacolod Head Alma Gustilo said quick response (QR) codes will be embedded in the new PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) IDs so that they cannot be faked.

Gustilo said that Bacoleño senior citizens can now have their IDs changed at the SM Express Office at SM City Bacolod for free.

All they need to do is present their old IDs and have them changed into PVC-made IDs, she said.

IDs of PWDs and solo parents will also be replaced soon but they are still fixing the system to make it more efficient, she added.

Meanwhile, she also reported that employees who were alleged to be involved in the production of duplicate and fake IDs were already terminated from their jobs.*
