The new mayors of Kabankalan City and Silay City assumed their posts at noon Thursday.
In Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego took over from Mayor Mark Golez, and in Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda took over from Mayor Pedro Zayco.
Golez, in a Facebook post, thanked everyone who supported his administration and said he was officially signing off as mayor of Silay City.
“Over the past couple of years, we have witnessed the significant development and progress happening in Silay. From the numerous local and national awards received by the city, the increase in job opportunities, establishment of countless infrastructures, decrease in crime volume, and an influx of businesses, all of these were possible because of our common united stand to advocate good governance,” he said.
In Kabankalan City, a program was held with the theme “Walang Hangang Pasasalamat” to thank Zayco for his many contributions to the development of Kabankalan City.*
