
A drinking session turned tragic after a man allegedly stabbed and killed his own uncle during an argument in Sitio Ilog, Brgy. Arebasore, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, Sunday afternoon, July 6.
Police reports said that the victim was identified as Elton Baldoza, while the suspect is his nephew, Jemar Pasaporte, 42, a carpenter, both residents of Sitio Ilog, an interior barangay located about 15 kilometers from the town proper.
Investigation revealed the two were drinking together at around 4:15 p.m. when a heated argument erupted.
In the middle of the confrontation, Pasaporte allegedly took a bladed weapon and stabbed his uncle multiple times, causing his instantaneous death.
The incident was reported to police by the barangay captain of Arebasore at around 5:15 p.m., who personally went to the station due to the area’s lack of cell phone signal.
Responding officers arrived at the scene at 6:50 p.m.
Pasaporte later surrendered voluntarily to barangay officials and was turned over to the Mabinay Municipal Police Station, where he is now detained.
The weapon used is also in police custody.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine if other factors played a role in the fatal dispute.*
