Youth organizations across Negros Island have formed a new alliance called the “Katipunan ng Kabataan Laban sa Korapsyon (KKK)”, which aims to campaign against corruption and promote transparency and accountability in government.
The alliance was launched by members of various youth formations, including representatives from Kabataan Party-list Negros, University of Saint La Salle student leaders, Anakbayan Negros, Tolentine Star, The Philippine Artisan Visayas, and other campus and sectoral youth groups.
Organizers said the coalition seeks to unite students, young workers, indigenous youth, urban poor youth, and young professionals in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental in pushing for reforms and monitoring government processes.
KKK leaders said their initial activities include an island-wide youth mobilization on November 30, Bonifacio Day.
Delegations from schools and communities are expected to join calls for transparency in local budgets, public release of infrastructure contracts, and audits of joint ventures in water and energy services.
The group also plans to raise concerns over political dynasties, allocation of government funds, and issues affecting farmers and fisherfolk, including land conversion and displacement.
Environmental concerns such as flood-control projects, quarrying, and mining activities that youth groups say contribute to climate vulnerability in Negros will also be highlighted during the mobilization.
Following the November 30 activity, the alliance said it intends to establish chapters in schools and communities and organize teams to monitor government budgets and infrastructure projects.
The group said its long-term goal is to encourage broader youth participation in governance and public accountability efforts.*
