Negros SP hears proposed increase in Mambukal fees

New rates are being proposed for the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia, Negros Occidental, when it reopens after Holy Week, Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena said Tuesday, April 5.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Finance held a hearing on the rate hikes and amendments to the proposed move were made on Tuesday morning. The ordinance is expected to be approved this month.

Decena, who is also the officer-in-charge of the resort, said there have been no increases in the rates of the Mambukal accommodations and recreational facilities since 2003.

The last entrance fee increase was in 2011, she added.

The target is to reopen Mambukal for day visits after Holy Week and for overnight stays in May, Decena said.

It has been proposed that the Mambukal entrance fee for adults be increased from P50 to P120, and from P20 to 60 for children plus a P20 environment fee, Decena said.

The new entrance fee will now include the free use of the swimming and dipping polls at the resort, she said, which visitors had to pay separate fees for in the past.

The proposed entrance fee for the Japanese Ofuro will remain at P100, while rent for the small picnic huts will be increased to P500 and the big ones to P800, she said.

The proposed rates for the Mambukal Villas are P2,000 for the matrimonial, P2,400 for triple sharing and P3,000 for quadruple sharing, and P5,500 for family cottages.

The proposed rent for the local government unit cottages for two is P1,500, for four – P2,000 and for six – P2,500.

Rates at the Tourist Lodge for rooms for four will be P2,000 and for six – P2,500 and an additional fee of P250 for an additional person.

Decena said the hotel at the resort is not set to open to the public yet.*
