Negros-Sagay football team gears up for PFF U19 nat’l finals

It’s another hectic season for football athletes in Negros Occidental as the Negros-Sagay Football Team prepares for the PFF U19 Boys National Finals in Carmona, Cavite, June 21 to 29.

The team is currently conducting its training program at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium, a press release from the Capitol said Tuesday, May 30.

The Negros-Sagay Football team is set to defend its title after they were hailed as the champion in the PFF Under-19 Boys National Championship – First Division at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite in June of last year. They defeated the National Capital Region FA after a gripping 1-0 extra-time victory.

The Negros-Sagay Football Team Training Program is made possible through the collaboration of Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) and the Abanse Negrense Sports Programs, spearheaded by Gov. Eugenio Jose V. Lacson and assisted by Provincial Sports Development Program Management Section head Anthony Carlo Agustin.

Apart from the team’s training program, tryouts were also held, which started on May 29, Monday. Qualified players should be born in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental’s Pana-ad Park and Stadium remains to be the premier multi-purpose sporting arena in the province and proof to that are the different sports events that were recently held in the stadium, the press release said.

Last week, Buglas Futbol Philippines held the 2nd COPA A.B.B. (Abanse Buglas Bootfest) on May 20 while the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System conducted its 3-day Pasundayag 2023 on May 24 to 26. And in the upcoming weeks, more sports activities will be held there like the Real Negrense Football Club vs. Old Skol Football Club of Dumaguete Friendly Match on June 11,

Buglas Futbol Philippines will also conduct the 3rd leg of its COPA A.B.B. (Abanse Buglas Bootfest) at 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on July 22-23 . It will be participated by 20 teams and in preparation for the SingaCup 2023 in Singapore on November 6-12.

Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod’s Rotary Cup 2023: Sipa for Polio will also be happening at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium on September 16-17.*
