Negros response team arrives in Cebu with water filtration trucks, medical aid

The One Negros Response Team arrived in Cebu province on Friday night, October 3, bringing essential supplies, including mobile water filtration systems and medical aid, to assist earthquake survivors.

Those who arrived Friday night were responders from the Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the cities of Sipalay, San Carlos and Silay, Irene Bel Ploteña, PDRRMO head, said.

The responders from the cities of Talisay, Cadiz and Escalante arrived in Cebu ahead, she said.

The Sagay City team is leaving for Cebu on Saturday morning.

The One Negros Response Team brought two water tankers, two mobile water filtration systems, two ambulances, a rescue truck and two utility vehicles, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

Ploteña said the Talisay Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue Team was already in Bogo, Cebu.

A team from Escalante City is in Tabuelan, Cebu, with a mobile kitchen, water tanker and boom truck.

The Cadiz City team is in Bogo, Cebu, with a water purifier and utility vehicle, she said.

Non-government organizations and volunteer groups have also sent medical and disaster teams to Cebu.

Potable water and tents are most needed now in Cebu, Donato Sermeno, Negros Island Region Office of Civil Defense director, said.*
