Negros Power employee allegedly caught with copper wires in Talisay

A regular employee of Negros Electric and Power Corporation, or Negros Power, was apprehended after security personnel allegedly found company-owned copper wires inside his vehicle in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. on Sunday night, May 31.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Ray,” 38, a resident of Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. at the Negros Power premises in Menlo Phase 3, Brgy. Zone 10.

Initial investigation by the Talisay City Police Station showed the suspect was about to leave the company premises using his black Honda Civic when his vehicle was inspected by security personnel as part of company standard operating procedures.

During the inspection, a duty security guard allegedly found two rolls of TW black copper wire, each measuring about 150 meters, on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle.

Police said the security guard immediately informed his supervisor and requested police assistance.

Based on the statement of the apprehending security personnel, police said the suspect allegedly took the electrical wires without authority or consent from the company.

The suspect was brought to the Talisay City Health Office for medical examination and is now under the custody of the Talisay City Police Station.

Police said a qualified theft case is being prepared against him.*
