Negros Occidental gets 98,900 vax doses vs. Covid, NVD4 starts March 10

The Negros Occidental provincial government received an additional 98,900 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday and Wednesday with the fourth round of the National Vaccination Days (NVD), otherwise known as Bayanihan Bakunan, to start Thursday, March 10.

The NVD 4 aims to ramp up vaccination coverage among individuals with due or missed second dose, senior citizens, the remaining 12 to 17 years old group and booster doses for individuals in the health and economic sector from, March 10 to 12, the DOH announced.

The inclusion of Saturday, March 12, aims to give an opportunity to working parents or guardians to accompany their children during the inoculation, and for the working sector to avail of the vaccination during their day-off, it added.

Negros Occidental received 60,840 Pfizer doses for adults, 20,300 Pfizer doses for the pediatric population and 3,760 Sinovac doses for a total of 84,900 doses from the DOH central office in Manila on Wednesday, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

The province also received 6,000 Sinovac doses, 1,100 vials (5,500 doses) of Jansen and 250 vials (2,500) of Moderna vaccines for a total of 14,000 doses from the DOH regional office in Iloilo on Tuesday, he added.

Vaccinators will have to go to the barangays to boost the senior citizen vaccination drive, he said.*
