Negros Occidental, Bacolod SPs approve JO, COS workers’ gratuity pay

It will be a happy New Year for job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) personnel of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.

The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod approved the release of funds for the gratuity pay of the provincial and city governments’ JO and COS personnel on Thursday, December 30.

The Bacolod SP also approved the Service Recognition Incentives of the city’s regular employees who will receive P10, 000 each, Councilor Cindy Rojas said.

The Negros Occidental SP approved the gratuity pay of its 1,300 JO and COS personnel in a special session Thursday, Provincial Administrator Rayfrado Diaz said.

The provincial government gratuity pay is expected to be released on Friday, Diaz said.

COS and JOs are entitled to a one-time P5,000 incentive provided that they have rendered a total or, an aggregate, of at least four months of actual satisfactory performance of service.

Those who have rendered three months or more but less than four months will receive P4, 000 each, while personnel with two months or more but less than three months, will be given P3, 000.

COS and JOs with less than two months of service are entitled to P2,000.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the granting of gratuity pay is in consonance with Section 5 of the President’s Administrative Order No. 46 enjoining LGUs to extend gratuity pay to COS and JOs if they have the financial capability to do so.

He thanked Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the entire SP for ratifying the proposed granting of the one-time incentive.

Leonardia directed the appropriate offices to make necessary preparations for the release of the incentives as the city still has sufficient funds despite the COVID-19 pandemic and super Typhoon Odette that recently hit Bacolod.*
