Negros, Bacolod voter registrants hit 56,723

The Commission on Elections has processed 56,723 new voter registrants in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Wednesday, February 1.

The filing of applications to vote was from December 12 to January 31.

There were 28,166 male and 28,557 female registrants, Ananoria said.

Bacolod City had the most number of new voter registrants at 13,792.

The 15 to 17- year-old voter registrants for the Sangguniang Kabataan elections were 13,789 in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.

The Election Registration Board (ERB) hearings are set February 20.

The ERB has to approve the applications for registration before an individual can be considered a registered voter. Each city and municipality have their own ERB, which is composed of the city/municipal election officer, a public school official, and the local civil registrar.
