The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, through the National Gawad KALASAG Committee, announced on Monday, Nov. 27, that Negros Occidental, Bacolod City and seven other local government units are fully compliant for the 23rd Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) seal.
It also named Bago and Sipalay cities as beyond compliant.
The seven others found fully compliant are Talisay, Silay, Victorias, La Carlota, and San Carlos cities, and the towns of EB Magalona and Manapla.
The annual Gawad KALASAG aims to promote and recognize the efforts of local government units in enhancing disaster preparedness and response in their respective communities.*
