Allies of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Negros Occidental on Monday, Nov. 25, condemned the “death threats” of Vice President Sara Duterte that they said “seek to disrupt peace and order”.

The president, in a statement on Monday, vowed to stand firmly against the death threats of Duterte against him, his wife, First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez.

In a video message Saturday Duterte claimed she hired an assassin to kill the three in the event that she is killed.

Members of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) Negros Occidental, the political party of the president, extend their unwavering support to the President in the face of the recent threats against him, the First Lady and Romualdez, Provincial Board Member Anton Occeño, PFP Negros Occidental chairman, said.

“At this critical juncture, the President’s leadership is more vital than ever in safeguarding the democratic values and security of our country,” the PFP Negros Occidental statement said.

“We stand firm with the President as he confronts these threats and continues to uphold the rule of law,” it said.

PFP Negros Occidental said it is crucial as a nation that “we remain united in support of the government’s efforts to combat any form of violence that undermines the stability of our nation”.

“We condemn any act that seeks to disrupt peace and order, and we call upon all sectors of society – government officials, law enforcement, and the Filipino people – to come together in solidarity for the greater good of the country,” it added.

The President said on Monday that Duterte should be made accountable for her statements. Any assassination attempt against the President also raises concerns about the security of the nation and its citizens, he said.

Such criminal attempts should never be overlooked, the President added.

He stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law to protect the country and the Constitution.

In a video message, Marcos noted that the issue would not have led to this kind of drama if only Duterte answered questions from lawmakers.

“The truth should not be summarily executed,” he said.

“This conversation would have ended if only the sworn oath to tell the truth as a public servant would be fulfilled, and not be hindered,” Marcos added.*
