The scholarship program that allows Negrenses to work as caregivers in Japan after their studies will continue, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, March 18.
Lacson who was in Japan last week said he met with the provincial government’s partners from Houei Group in and they agreed to continue the program.
The governor said he went to Japan to attend the graduation of Negrense scholars of the provincial government, and to check on those studying and working there.
The provincial government has sent 97 scholars since 2018 and about 70 are working in various parts of Japan.
Meanwhile, the Consul General of Japan in Cebu, Hideaki Matsuo, called on Lacson at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City Monday morning.
Lacson shared his insights about his recent visit to Japan, particularly the partnership between the provincial government, Houei Group and OISCA International.
Matsuo said he hopes the governor will continue the cultural exchange programs with Japan.
He told the governor that the primary goal of his visit is to personally discuss with him the protection and safety of Japanese nationals in the province and also to strengthen the ties between the province of Negros Occidental and Japan.*
