NegOcc hosts 2nd International AI Education Summit

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, through the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC), in collaboration with Eastwest International Educational Specialists Inc. and the Asian Institute of Artificial Intelligence, hosted the 2nd International AI Education Summit 2026 on Wednesday, March 18.

The summit gathered educators, policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to explore how artificial intelligence can transform education, foster collaboration, enhance learning outcomes, and ensure its ethical and human-centered use.

In his welcome message, Gov. Eugenio Jose  Lacson underscored the growing relevance of AI, noting that it is no longer a distant concept but a force actively transforming classrooms, industries, and communities.

He emphasized the need to anchor AI development on purpose and principle, stressing that it should not replace human intelligence but elevate it, enhancing creativity, strengthening critical thinking, and expanding opportunities for every learner.

The summit was attended by international experts from the United States, Singapore, and China, alongside local leaders, educators, students, and stakeholders interested in emerging AI technologies and policy directions shaping the future of education.

Among the notable speakers were Alex Urrea, founder and CEO of Eduscape; Jacob Boyle, CEO and founder of MARCo Health Inc.; Amol Choudhary, partner at MIMOUSE Global ; Jeffrey Sathya Peter, strategic adviser for Partnerships and Alliance of YITRO; and Dr. Prem Jagadeesan, AI researcher, educator, and industry advisor of Amrita School of AI and Scientific Advisor of YITRO Global.

Also present were Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II, Board Member Rita Gatuslao, NOLITC School Administrator Dr. Ma. Cristina Orbecido, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority NIR Regional Director Niña Connie Dodd, and Department of Education Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amelaine Sales, among others.

Held at the NOLITC Campus in Talisay City, the activity carried the theme, “Human-Centric AI in Education and Industry: Advancing Learning Through Adaptive and Collaborative Technology.”

Lacson called on stakeholders to ensure that AI innovations serve a greater purpose.

“Let us ensure that the technologies we develop and adopt will always serve a greater purpose, one that uplifts lives, empowers communities, and strengthens our shared humanity,” he said.*
