The Commission on Elections encountered minor problems during the final testing and sealing of the automated counting machines (ACMs) in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City on Wednesday, May 7, which were resolved.
The Comelec is now 100 percent ready for Election Day on May 12 in Negros Occidental and Bacolod, Comelec Negros Island Region Assistant Regional Director Jossil Macute said.
The Comelec has allocated 2,086 ACMs for the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental and 398 for Bacolod, he said.
Also allocated are 261 replacement ACMs for Negros Occidental in case problems are encountered at the precincts and 54 for Bacolod, he said.
The ACM repair hub is located at the Comelec provincial office in Bacolod City, Macute said.
Macute said they encountered minor problems involving five ACMs, five USBs and one Smart Card that was reconfigured.
One USB for an ACM in Moises Padilla was corrupted and repaired, and final testing and sealing will be conducted on Thursday, he said.
All other problems were resolved on Wednesday, Macute said.
“Everything is ready on the side of the Comelec and the security forces, we are urging voters to vote early so there will be no congestion during the last hours on Election Day,” he said.*
