NegOcc breaches 6,000 mark in COVID-19 cases, DOH says

Negros Occidental breached the 6,000 mark in the number of COVID-19 cases, after it registered 28 new ones today, December 10, the Department of Health in Western Visayas (WV) reported.

The DOH said Negros Occidental with 6,006 COVID-19 cases also remains the topnotcher in WV followed by Bacolod City with 5,484 cases, Iloilo City – 4,488, Iloilo province – 2,745, Capiz – 1,141, Aklan – 353, Guimaras – 223 and Antique – 80.

Among the six provinces and two highly urbanized cities in WV, Negros Occidental has the largest population at 2.59 million.

Bacolod City, on the other hand, is the topnotcher in the number of COVID-19-related deaths in WV with 168, followed by Iloilo City with 140, Negros Occidental – 131, Iloilo province – 97, Capiz – 42, Aklan – 9, Guimaras – 3 and Antique -1.

Negros Occidental tops the list in the most number of COVID-19 active cases at 986, followed by Iloilo province with 183, Bacolod City – 179, Iloilo City – 174, Aklan – 101, Capiz – 75, Guimaras – 12 and Antique – 3.

Bacolod City has the most number of COVID -19 recoveries at 5,137, followed by Negros Occidental with 4,888, Iloilo City – 4,174, Iloilo province – 2,464, Capiz – 1,023, Aklan -243, Guimaras – 208 and Antique -76.

The total number of COVID-19 cases that have hit WV are 20,520 as of today, with 18,213 recoveries, 1,713 active cases, and 591 deaths, the DOH reported.*
