Neg. Occ. to give P4M to typhoon-hit areas

The Negros Occidental provincial government today increased the amount it is sending to typhoon-hit areas in the country from P2 million to P4 million.

The provincial government is sending P1 million each in cash assistance to the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Cagayan, and Isabela that were hit by massive floods and widespread damage caused by typhoons “Rolly” and “Ulysses” recently.

The assistance was approved during the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) meeting held at the Capitol Social Hall Tuesday, November 17, presided by its chairperson, Governor Eugenio Lacson.

The council also approved the P156,520,000 worth of programs, projects, and activities to be funded under the 2021 PDRRM fund, which prioritized the necessary emergency preparedness and response programs.

All approved agenda will be endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The meeting was attended by the council members, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, Negros Occ. PDMP Head Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian, and Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator and PDRRMC Secretariat head, Ma. Lina Sanogal.*
