Negros Occidental still has the highest number of gun ban violators in the region, the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas reported Tuesday, October 24.
There were 111 arrested gun ban violators in the region with 377 surrendered firearms, 46 confiscated contrabands and deadly weapons, 79 confiscated firearms, and 172 firearms deposited from August 28 to October 24, the police reported.
Negros Occidental has 30 gun ban violators, followed by Iloilo with 19, Bacolod and Iloilo cities – 16 each, Aklan – 11, Capiz – 9, Guimaras – 4, Regional Mobile Force Battalion – 3, and Antique – 2.
PRO-6 also reported that they have established 20,286 Comelec checkpoints all over the region since the start of the gun ban.*
