The Negros Occidental provincial government is holding a Health Summit and the 15th Negros Island Organic Farmer’s Festival this week, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, November 21.
The Health Summit will be held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central on Thursday, November 24, and the organic festival at the Capitol grounds in Bacolod City from Wednesday to Saturday, November 23 to 26.
It is very important to hold a health summit to inform the local government units of the importance of the Universal Health Care Act, which will provide more resources for the health care of Negrenses and the management of the provincial government hospitals, Lacson said.
Lacson said he is hoping that with its implementation there will be an improvement in the collection of PhilHealth payments.
Under the UHC Law, all citizens are automatically entitled to PhilHealth benefits, including comprehensive outpatient services.
Meanwhile, the 15th Negros Island Organic Farmer’s Festival is being held after a two year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is being held to give recognition to our organic farmers,” Lacson said.*
