A candidate for vice governor and four board member aspirants filed their certificates of candidacy before the Negros Occidental Commission on Elections at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City on Monday, Oct. 7.
Fifteen candidates for mayor and 16 for vice mayor also filed their COCs on Monday.
There were also 135 councilor candidates who filed their COCs.
Former overseas Filipino worker Rosemarie Dreyfus, 52, from Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay, filed her certificate for vice governor under the Partido Lakas ng Masa.
Dreyfus said she is regional managing director of the Saint John of Jerusalem Knights of Malta Foundation of the Philippines Inc.
“I am running for vice governor because I want Negros Occidental to be free of corruption and of dynasties,” she said.
She is running with gubernatorial bet J Paul Octaviano also of the Partido Lakas ng Masa against the tandem of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Board Jose Benito Alonso.
Also running for governor is farmer Ferdenand Diego.

Those who filed COCs for board member are incumbent 5th District BM Rita Gatuslao, former EB Magalona councilor Hope Marey Depasucat Sazon (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas) – 3rd District, medical technologist Cherrie Hope Belarga (PFP) – 5th District and businessman Michael Legaspi (PDP Laban) – 6th District.
