The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) brought its Visayas Cluster Roadshow and Technical Assistance to Bacolod City on Monday, July 27, to equip regional cultural stakeholders for its upcoming 2027 Competitive Grants Program.
The roadshow, held at to Citadines Hotel, served as a regional outreach activity to guide artists, cultural workers, researchers, local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations, and educational institutions through the grant application process ahead of the August 31 submission deadline.
The Commission invites proposals for projects that promote, preserve, develop, and share Philippine arts and culture.
Implemented through the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts (NEFCA) under Republic Act No. 7356, the Competitive Grants Program provides financial assistance to projects that promote, preserve, and develop Philippine arts and heritage.
Alphonsus D. Tesoro, head of the NCCA National Committee on Central Cultural Communities, highlighted the role of local participation in keeping heritage alive during his opening remarks.
“Bacolod City, like many communities across the country, reminds us that culture is carried in the ways people gather, create, celebrate, and respond to change,” Tesoro said.
“It reflects the very spirit of our work at the NCCA: recognizing that culture thrives when communities themselves become active participants in shaping and sustaining it,” he said.
Tesoro said that the roadshow is designed to make government support more accessible and transparent by walking applicants through accreditation, proposal preparation, evaluation, and grants management.
“We encourage all qualified organizations and institutions to take advantage of this opportunity to turn meaningful cultural initiatives into impactful programs for their communities,” Tesoro added.
Participants at the Bacolod leg received hands-on technical guidance and consulted directly with NCCA committee members and Secretariat representatives to refine their project proposals.
For the 2027 funding cycle, the NCCA is prioritizing projects aligned with its four Subcommissions: Arts, Cultural Heritage, Cultural Dissemination, and Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts.
