The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has identified the person whose frozen body parts were left in front of NBI Bacolod office last week.

The body parts belong to a male drug personality from Bacolod City, NBI Bacolod chief Renoir Baldovino said on Tuesday, March 5. He, however, withheld the name of the person.

Baldovino said a Technical Division team from the NBI headquarters in Manila is arriving in Bacolod to examine the body parts and verify their findings.

An informant provided them with the initial information that led to the identity of the person, Baldovino said.

Baldovino denied that there is a rift between two NBI Bacolod agents that could be related to body parts case.

“There is no truth to that, I belie that report that there is a feud inside the NBI, we are intact,” he said.

Baldovino said the persons who left the body parts in front of the NBI office probably wanted to scare or discredit them because of their active campaign against illegal gambling.

There is no truth to the rumors that the leaving of the body parts could be the work of a person within in the NBI, he said.

Baldovino said the fact that the CCTV camera at the NBI office was turned off when the body parts were discovered was not intentionally done to conceal anything.

Security at the NBI Bacolod office has been increased, Baldovino also said.

The Bacolod City Police Office also formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate the dumping of the body parts in front of the NBI office.

The frozen human body parts were found in front of the NBI office at Aguinaldo Street at 5:45 a.m. Friday, March 1.

The body parts in a sack included a left arm, left leg and two ears, PMaj. Glenn Montaño, Bacolod Police Station 2 chief, said.

A message written on the sack said: “William de Arca NBI protector ni Hanz Lopez drug lord”.

Baldovino said since he was assigned in Bacolod in 2017 he has not received any reports that Special Investigator William de Arca has been involved in the illegal drugs trade.

The note linking de Arca to illegal drugs could be a diversionary tactic by influential persons behind illegal gambling operations, Baldovino said.*
