The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has pledged immediate financial and institutional assistance to a policeman who died saving his two companions from drowning.
PMSgt. Fernando P. Marfa of the Cadiz Police Station died after being swept away by strong currents during a seaborne patrol in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, while trying to save two companions, on Friday, August 7.
NAPOLCOM Commissioner Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan said his agency will directly facilitate the processing and swift release of all statutory benefits due to Marfa’s beneficiaries, assuring his family of continuous support within the Commission’s mandate during their time of grief.
Calinisan said that the NAPOLCOM will not abandon the fallen officer’s loved ones, acknowledging the heavy price his family has paid for his years in uniform.
Marfa died a hero, he said.
