The Moises Padilla police doubt that a college student died in a hit-and-run incident at Brgy. Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, as claimed by her uncle.
The uncle who alleged that Deserie Tadena died in a hit-and run incident on Wednesday admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, Maj. Romulo Gepilango, Moises Padilla police chief, said Friday, Feb. 21.
A police investigator also noticed wounds on the arms of the uncle, Gepilango said.
The chief of police said that the incident may have been self-inflicted contrary to the claims of the uncle that he was urinating on the side of the road when he noticed that another motorcycle rider hit his 21-year-old niece who was sitting on his motorcycle.
The uncle claimed that Deserie fell off the motorcycle and hit her head on the ground which caused her death.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon and the police can’t seem to find witnesses to support the claims of the uncle, but they are still trying to find more CCTV footage to get a bigger picture on what happened on that day, Gepilango said.*
