A 34-year-old motorcyclist died after figuring in a self-inflicted traffic accident along Cabalawan Road in Purok 8, Brgy. Poblacion 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Saturday night, Dec. 20.
Police identified the victim as Vergilio Narciso, a laborer and resident of Brgy. Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City.
Police records showed the incident happened at around 8:05 p.m. while the victim was driving a Honda Winner X motorcycle from Sagay City proper toward Hacienda Luisita in Brgy. Poblacion 1.
Initial investigation revealed that upon reaching a rough portion of the road, the driver allegedly lost control of the motorcycle due to excessive speed and lack of precautionary measures.
Authorities also observed that the victim was under the influence of intoxicating liquor, which caused him to lose balance and fall onto the road.
The victim sustained severe head and body injuries and was rushed by Sagay City Disaster Rish Reduction Office personnel to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. District Hospital.
Police said the victim was unconscious upon arrival and later died while receiving medical treatment.*
