A 21-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck along the Murcia-Mansilingan Road in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Thursday night, July 11.
The victim, identified as Dave Porque, a resident of Purok Masinadyahon, Florence Ville, Barangay Pahanocoy, was rushed to a hospital by rescue responders but was declared dead.
Initial investigation from the Bacolod Traffic Enforcement Unit showed that Porque was driving his motorcycle toward Bacolod from Murcia when he crashed into a Nissan Navara pickup coming from the opposite direction.
The pickup was driven by 29-year-old Juan Carlos Martir, a resident of Lolita Heights Subdivision, Barangay Mansilingan.
Police Maj. Elmer Bonilla, head of the traffic unit, said they are still determining who was at fault and have ordered investigators to review nearby CCTV footage.
He also plans to conduct an ocular inspection in the area, which is known to be accident-prone.
Bonilla reminded motorists to always wear proper or full-face helmets to protect themselves in cases of road accidents.*
