A 41-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a three-vehicle crash at the national highway in Purok San Jose, Brgy. Calumangan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday evening, Feb. 19.
The victim was identified as Marvin Abucay, a resident of Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, who was declared dead on the spot.
Investigation by the Bago police showed that a tricycle traveling from Bago City proper toward Brgy. Calumangan slowed down to stop at the roadside when it was accidentally hit from behind by the motorcycle.
Due to the impact, the motorcycle fell and its driver was thrown onto the inner lane of the highway.
Police said the motorcycle rider was then accidentally run over by a sugarcane-loaded Isuzu hauler truck traveling toward Bacolod City.
The tricycle driver and the truck driver were not injured.
Authorities said all drivers involved and the vehicles were brought to the Bago City police station for proper disposition.
The motorcycle and tricycle sustained damage, while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.*
