Motorcycle passenger critically injured in Manapla

A motorcycle passenger was critically injured after a collision with a bus along the national highway in Barangay Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday afternoon, October 29.

A black Kawasaki Barako motorcycle with a sidecar and a blue Sinotruck bus traveling in opposite directions collided, the Manapla Police Station reported.

The motorcycle, driven by a 35-year-old man with no driver’s license, was heading toward Manapla from Victorias City. The bus, driven by a 42-year-old man from Nueva Ecija, was headed for Victorias from Cadiz City, the report said.

The motorcycle’s front tire busted causing the driver to lose control and veer into the opposite lane, where it collided with the left side of the approaching bus.

The passenger of the motorcycle sustained a severe head injury. Manapla Rescue personnel rushed him to the Kaayong Lawas Hospital in Victorias City, where he remains in critical condition.

Both vehicles sustained damage, and authorities are continuing the investigation to determine liabilities.*
