Motorcycle driver dies in Silay accident

A motorcycle driver died after he was ran over by a wing van in Hacienda Tinayaban, Brgy. Hawaiian, Silay City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Killed was a 53-year-old resident of Brgy. Tanza, E.B. Magalona, the police said.

He was accidentally ran over by a wing van driven by Joemar Era, 41, of Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City.

Police investigation revealed that the wing van was in the inner lane of the road while the victim was driving his motorcycle on the outer lane.

However, the victim hit the “slow down school zone” signage and fell on the inner lane of the road causing the wing van to accidentally run over his head.

The victim incurred severe head injuries causing his death while the driver of the wing van is now detained at the Silay Police Station.

The family of the victim and the wing van driver have already had an initial discussion on a possible settlement, the police said.*
